Evalina Asanova, granddaughter of a Crimean Tatar master of filigree jewelry created some video and sat for an interview with me this summer in field work I did supported by the Turkish Cultural Foundation. Here’s a sneak peak at what I am working on for spring 2012.

Symbian Anna!
The Symbian Anna update has finally pushed to the USA (and perhaps all of North America!). I was particularly happy to see the famed vertical orientation keyboard, perhaps my most desired feature.
The update “launched” originally in August to much fanfare, then gnashing of teeth as most people found it wasn’t available in their country. Nokia promised that localization issues were being addressed as quickly as possible. Meanwhile we all learned that the update named Belle would be even better, but no official date for it was mentioned.
Any word from any other of the forgotten English-speaking countries? Are all N8-00′s finally upgradeable?
Demo footage
Eskender is an amazing young person I met this summer while working in Crimea. He is recently married and works making headstones for the cemetery. That isn’t the craft he learned in school, though.
This video doesn’t include any of the excellent interview he gave me, it does show a tremendously talented you man.
