Jobs That Are Recession/Depression Proof
I read an article on Lifehacker a couple of weeks ago that talked about jobs that would survive the downturn. There were a few omissions, though. Here are three jobs that will get you through the economic downturn in my humble opinion.
First is our friend the funeral director. No matter how bad the economy gets, people will pay whatever it takes to show their loved ones respect after they die. We are too superstitious to move to cremations.
Another: Nurse. Pretty much all the health care fields are fine, I think. Nursing has a lower cost of entry than doctor though.
Next: Law enforcement. Not necessarily police work, per se, but my brother just transitioned from a state level investigator job to a federal job at a prison. I doubt we are going to run into a situation where we stop having prison guards any time soon.
Of course, you can always do like me. That is, I was out of debt and wanted to do something to “help,” so I joined the Peace Corps. It’s 27 months where I learn another language, teach English, learn about the geo-political situation in another country, have all my needs taken care of by the government and get $6k when I get back to resettle into life. It’s a great experience and has given me a much broader world view.
